Nick Akers Memorial Challenge
Nick Akers was an active member of Quintin RFC for more than 10 years which included captaining the Quintin 2nd XV. Through his genuine good nature and tireless support of the Club and all its members he forged many friendships and was respected and loved by many generations of Quintin faithful. Nick was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer less than 6 weeks ago, which proved to be untreatable and he sadly passed away on Wednesday the 17th June at the young age of 38. He will be missed by many. To remember Nick and raise funds for two charities nominated by Nick's family, Quintin RFC would like to undertake the Nick Akers Memorial Challenge.
Details of the Challenge
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this seasons tour to Pristina, Kosovo had to be cancelled. In teams we intend to cover the 3,000 miles from our home ground of Dukes Meadow, Chiswick, South West London to Pristina, Kosovo and back, starting on Wednesday, July 1st and concluding on Friday, July 31st.
We would love to see as many current and previous players take part by walking, running, cycling, swimming or rowing and logging those miles for your team in the Strava App.
A dedicated Nick Akers Memorial Challenge JustGiving page (link below) has been created to receive donations so please donate, share and encourage others to participate so we can raise as much as possible for these invaluable organisations and the work they do. If you can't take part in the exercise, you can still show your support by making a donation.
All proceeds will be going to Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support, and Epilepsy Society.
