Quintin RFC

West London vs Quintin RFC

Quintin arrived in the desirable Northwest London suburb of Greenford, where for most of the team this was the furthest North they had ever been. The boys turned up surprisingly early and were absolutely shocked to find out that after warming up for 45 mins they still had 35 mins until kick off. Needless to say, the most was made of this time to get themselves physically prepared.

The match started with West London taking the first scalp. An accumulation of penalties led to field position for West London which eventually tolled with them breaching a strong defensive set. Quintin sharpened up with a responding try from a barn storming by in form Joe Ennifer, smashing though the West London line. Captain Joe converted with ease. Quintin took the lead 5-7.

Wests then returned with some physical carrying from their forwards but couldn’t convert the extra points, 10-7.

Quintin came back into in in the second half with a try form Sean Ducray to make it 12-10. In the mid second half, followed by Captain Joe once again slotting it, 14-10 to Quintin.

It was tit for tat from then on, Quintin showing massive heart and attacking flair to get through the West London defence. Great line speed from the squad showed up and fantastic tenacity to move forward.

Now if I could write a movie about this last minute I would; Quintin were struggling the whole last 10 minutes. Knock on after knock on, penalty after penalty. Then suddenly, in the last play of the game they turned it over, Carter skip passing it to Sean at 12 who shelved it to 13. The overlap was on and the ball made it out to Tim who gassed out the West defenders, inside stepping and through to Victory. The feeling was unreal.

Absolute elation.

Quintin secured the victory in the dying moments. The boys roll on. Euphoria throughout the camp.

Player of the day went to Billy, stepping it and hooker and setting a strong scrum and carrying hard throughout the day. Overall boys showed heart against a team that had given us our first L of the season in the return fixtures.
